WELCOME TO OUR WORLD OF PAPIER MACHE'!!!
MEET THE ARTISTS..
Ruby Meyer had an itch
and to those who know her this could be a frightening thing. It was 1960 and she was ready to explore a new medium that she had seen her children working with in classroom projects. Papier Mache'
the art of applying paste to paper and forming it. Her first experiments lead her to sculpt her family in life-size Papier Mache' forms to complete a Christmas postcard theme. Papier Mache' than became the standard medium for many a school project as she teamed up with her children "helping them" to complete and perfect their projects. Even her closest friends became subject to "reincarnation"! However, with all great experiments, there was a slight glitch. Weevils began to boar holes on the surface of these bodies and projects and eventually ate away parts of the pieces due to its flour content in the paste. New game plan! Many years later and after much experimentation, Ruby and a daughter Melissa have immerged with several new concepts including no molds, no armatures, and everything hand made. They set up guidelines and expectations for themselves keeping lines as simple and realistic as possible, but allowing the imagination to run wild. "Life is complicated and difficult outside these walls, we just needed a break," chuckles Ruby. "A sense of humor and not much free time are vital elements for us." The Artists set story lines around each piece to give added life and a maximum amount of continual enjoyment for the viewer. We personalize each commission project to fit its new home in every way possible.
